Edward Eugene Evans, 71, of Germantown Hills, IL passed away at 12:05 am on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at his residence.  He was born on November 27, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas, the first child of John J. and Catherine M. (Kelch) Evans.

Ed is survived by his wife Carol, their son David A. (Heather) Evans, and their two grandchildren Nathan (Nathaniel) Evans and CeCe (Cecilia Catherine) Evans all of Germantown Hills.  Also surviving are two sisters Carol (Jim) Wall of Phoenix, AZ and Cathy (Jack) Elliott of Elkhorn, WI, one nephew Jeff Wall of Seattle, and three nieces Katherine Stewart of Phoenix, Beth Maloney of Surprise, AZ, and Laura Howitz of Waukesha, WI.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ed graduated from Woodruff High School in 1964 and entered the working world almost immediately.  He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard four years during the Vietnam Era before starting work for the Illinois Department of Transportation and later graduating from the University of Illinois. He retired from Illinois Department of Transportation in 1999, then working for eight more years for various consultants on highway projects in the Peoria area including the reconstruction of I-74 in downtown Peoria. He also served many years on the Highway Credit Union and the Worth Township Board.

His family was the center of his life and you could tell by the things he enjoyed most such as traveling, hiking, especially in the Smokey Mountain National Park and Shawnee National Forest, camping and boating at Kentucky Lake and Minocqua, WI, as well as Boy Scouting, R.C.
