Edward Duplaga, 88, of LaGrange, died peacefully at home on Monday, December 26, 2022. He was born December 28, 1933, in Berea and was a lifelong LaGrange resident. After graduating from LaGrange High School in 1951 as class president, he proudly served in The United States Army. Following his service, he met the love of his life, Una Marie (nee: Holley), and was employed at Columbia Gas System for 34 years, retiring in 1988. Active in his community, he was a 44-year member of the LaGrange Volunteer Fire Department. His love of farm & community was shared with his fellow members of Old Glory Grange. Every Christmas season he could be found working with his nephews at Wilcox Farms, spreading holiday cheer. He shared his bounty from his avid gardening and fishing with friends and family, never arriving, or letting you leave, empty-handed. He enjoyed county fairs, making his ‘liquid gold’ applesauce while listening to Johnny Cash, sitting underneath his red maple tree, and finding a good deal. His greatest joy was his family. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Una Marie, his children; Robin Duplaga (Jim Cornish), Dawn Puka (Marvin), Diane Quillen, his grandchildren; Katherine Blumkin (Mason), Emily Puka, Gabrielle Puka, Justin Quillen (Amy), Christina Agnew, and his great-grandchildren; Vivia, Emilia, and Aiden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Katherine Duplaga (nee: Safarz), four brothers; Stanley, Henry, Chester, and George, and three sisters; Stella Wilcox, Bertha Dupakoski, and Irene Youngblood.
