Obituary of Edward Dorwart Clapp

Brigadier General

Beloved husband of Betty Barnhart Clapp (deceased) died peacefully at his North Oaks home at Waverly Gardens on July 26th, 2017. Born in St. Paul MN May 6, 1927, member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity, graduate of University of Minnesota Law School (1951), he was commissioned Brigadier General United States Army Reserve February 1977 and served as the Assistant Judge Advocate General for Reserve Affairs. A patron of the Arts, he served as the president of the Saint Paul Opera Company. He was a principle member of Clapp-Thomssen Company, working in commercial and residential sales and development in the Twin Cities. He later worked for Edina Realty in home sales. He was a faithful member of House of Hope Presbyterian Church since his childhood. He is survived by his 3 children, William D. (Karen) Clapp of Chicago, Elizabeth Clapp of Woodbury MN, and Kathryn Clapp-Pederson (Cory) of Des Moines IA, 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Ed was known for his love of music and the arts, his family and his Waverly Gardens Community.
