Okeechobee, FL – Edward Wakefield Douglas died on August 3, 2021. He was born on July 17, 1932, to Elisha and Lillian (Hulsey) Douglas. A lifetime resident of Okeechobee, FL he was a member of numerous state and local organizations including the Okeechobee City council and served as Mayor from 1979 to 1985. He was president of the Treasure Coast Chapter of the Florida Chiropractic Association. He enjoyed flying, fishing, gardening, clogging, and Bluegrass music.
He is preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter Madalynn; brothers, Travis, Milton, Harold, and sister Doritha “Deecee”.
He is survived by his sons, Jay Douglas (Kim) of Port St. Lucie, FL, Greg Douglas (Sherry Watson) of Deland, FL; daughters, Melissa Harden (Danny) of Okeechobee, FL, Tonya Davey (Tommy) of Vero Beach, FL; ten grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother David R. Douglas of Okeechobee, FL, sister Juanita Walker of Okeechobee, FL; and the mother of his children Carolyn S. Douglas.
