Edward C. Hope passed away on March 2, 2019, at the VA Medical Center Hospice in West Palm Beach, FL after a valiant battle with ALS. Ed was born in Lovelton, PA to the late Gerald and Margaret Hope.
Ed is survived by his wife, Betsy Hope, his daughter, Jennifer Hope Whitten, her husband Robert Whitten, and his grandchildren Gavin and McKenna; his brothers Norman Hope of Melbourne, FL and Paul Hope of Orlando, Fl; and several nieces and nephews as well as numerous life long friends.
Ed lived most of his life in Enfield, CT retiring in 2018 to Port St. Lucie, FL.
Ed was a Veteran of the United States Army and served a tour of duty in Germany. He worked for 18 years at Trailways and retired after 30 years at Peter Pan Bus lines. In 2005 he was the first driver to achieve Three Million Miles of accident-free driving. Ed was inducted into the National Safety Councils Million Mile Hall Of Fame in 2017 as the ONLY Four Million Mile bus driver in the USA to have driven Four Million Miles accident-free. Peter Pan had a new bus dedicated in his honor and it’s the “Ed Hope Bus”.
He was predeceased by his brothers, James Hope, Gerry Hope, and Jack Hope.
