Edward Charles Conley, 83, of Salisbury passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.

Born in Scioto County, OH on March 15, 1931, he was the son of the late Emma Williams Conley and Charles Roger Conley.

Edward worked as an auto salesman. He was also a square dance caller for country western music. He was a member of Carmel Baptist Church and the Aurora #48 Masonic Blue Lodge.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Iley, Paul and Clayton Conley; sister, Ival Turner.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Lois Sue Askins Conley; sons, Daniel Conley (Stephanie) of MO, Duane “Tub” Conley (Ella) of Lucasville; daughters, Diana Hanson (Jerry) of Seaman, OH, Denise Blackburn (Tom) of Salisbury; brother, Harold Conley (Wendy) of OK; sister, Ruth Bogan of Portsmouth, OH; 8 grandchildren, Jason, Michael, Nathaniel, Amanda, Jeri Lynn, Joe, Dana and Kayla Sue; 9 great-grandchildren which he truly loved.

Edward loved to joke, and was referred to as “Smiling Ed”. He loved to write and record gospel songs.
