Edward C. Prytko, 76, a longtime Newington resident, loving husband of the late Helen (Borkowski) Prytko for 54 years, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Born in New Britain on June 4, 1938, he was the son of the late John and Stella (Lech) Prytko. Ed graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, spent two years in Vietnam and remained on active duty for 28 years before retiring and attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He also retired from the State of CT as a Senior Training Officer. Ed was involved in several Veterans’ organizations including the American Legion Post 117 and VFW Post 9936 of Newington, the 1st Calvary Division Association and the American Veterans’ Association. He was a very active parishioner of the Church of the Holy Spirit where he once served as President of its Mens’ Club and was also a member of the Newington Senior Center. He loved to dance the polka and there, he taught line-dancing and computer classes. Ed is survived by his son, Philip Prytko and his wife, Kathryn of New Britain; his daughter, Annette Dionizio and her friend, Christopher Ciccio of Southington; his brothers John Prytko and his wife, Ann of Manchester, Walter Prytko and his wife, Laurie of Ellington; his sister Georgianne Prytko of Berlin; along with many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Ed was predeceased by his daughter, Bernadette Prytko and his brother Stephen Prytko.
