It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one, Edward C. Morano, 89, of Columbia, formerly of Manchester, husband of the late Laura (Lento) Morano. Ed died peacefully at home on Thursday, January 12, 2017. He was born on September 10, 1927 in Manchester son of the late Alessandro and Mary (Monzeglio) Morano. He was raised in Manchester and attended Nathan Hale and Manchester High School. Ed was a veteran of WW II serving his country in the US Navy. Prior to his retirement he was employed for over 35 years at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as a machine mechanic. He later worked in the maintenance department for the Columbia School System and the Columbia Senior Center. He was an avid N.A.S.C.A.R. fan and loved the UConn Women’s Basketball Team. Ed is survived by his five children; Michael Morano of Nashville, TN, David Morano of Lebanon, John Morano and his wife Jane of Manchester, Mary Blair and her husband Jim of Columbia and Ann Morano of Coventry with whom he made his home. He also leaves ten cherished grandchildren; Brian Morano and his wife Juliana and their children Emma and Anna Morano, Tricia Morano and Jason, Anthony Morano and his fiancée Nina, Daniel Morano, Joshua Morano and Cherie, Jaime Doebrick and her husband David, Jason Morano, Allie Blair, Jimmy Blair and Alaina Morano, his beloved dog, Lucy, and his extended family in Italy. In addition to his wife and parents, Ed was predeceased by his granddaughter Laura Morano and his brother Armando Morano. Ed was loved by many, making friends wherever he went, especially at “Dunkin’ Donuts” in Columbia and numerous other places around town.
