Edward “Bud” Kunzeman, 91, of Alsey, and formerly of Meredosia, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at his residence.
He was born August 6, 1924, in Cass County, the son of Edward Jesse and Lydia Korsmeyer Kunzeman. He married Erma Louise Alhorn on May 19, 1946, in a double ceremony with her sister Bernice, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 26, 1999. He later married Rose Wells Gourley McGlasson on June 20, 2001, in Branson, MO, and she survives.
He is also survived by two sons and one daughter, Larry (Nancy) Kunzeman of New Salem, Reginald (Teresa) Kunzeman of Springfield, and Carol (Mark) Spangler of Meredosia; three step-children, Steve (Nancy) Gourley of Alsey, Diane (Larry) Cox of Galesburg, and Janice (Jules) Gourley of Albuquerque, NM; nine grandchildren, Rodney (Lisa) Curry, DeeAnn (Bobby)Schuelter, Eric (Jill) Kunzeman, Micah Kunzeman, Cari (Jason) Gold, Christy (Chris) Hillman, Brandon Kunzeman, Tracey (Terry) Lawson, and Kelly (Neal) Meyer; eight step-grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Penny Spangler; and two brothers, Wilbur (surviving wife Betty) Kunzeman and Glen (surviving wife Nancy) Kunzeman.
Mr. Kunzeman was a lifelong farmer and federal grain inspector. He served as Fire Chief of Glasgow as well as a 4-H leader for many years in the Glasgow/Alsey communities. He also served as a school board member for the Winchester Public Schools District and was a precinct committeeman. Bud belonged to the Glasgow Saddle Club and enjoyed western square dancing, hunting, camping, and boating. He was a 50 year founding member of Christ Lutheran Church in Winchester. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.
