Edward Gene Borrowman, 78, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017 at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, ID. Ed passed peacefully, surrounded by his wife and children, following a day of reminiscing and memories.
Ed worked as a cowboy in the Howe, ID area for many years during which time he found, domesticated and raised a bobcat, Butch. Ed then attended mechanics school at Idaho State University in Pocatello, ID. Ed then worked at Gooding Motors in Rupert, ID where he met Mary Lou, his future wife. Ed then enlisted in the United States Army as an airplane mechanic.
July 2, 1964, Ed married Mary Louise Henscheid in Rupert, ID and then moved to Fort Bragg in North Carolina until Ed’s discharge. They moved to Rupert, ID for a short time before making Arco, ID their home. Ed worked at INL as a 1st class union pipefitter, retiring in 2001. Ed maintained lifelong friendships with his co-workers following his retirement who knew him as “Fast Eddie”.
Ed was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, four-wheeling, dutch oven cooking, and traveling with his wife in their 5th wheel to places as far as Arizona, Alaska, & Illinois. Ed was known for enjoying a good cup of coffee and blueberry sour dough pancakes. Ed was also known for having a calming influence with children and animals.
Ed, enjoyed for his life stories and humor, was a resident of Gateway Transitional Care Center in Pocatello, ID since June of this year until his admittance to Portneuf Hospital where he passed away.
His father had married Hazel Voshall who passed away, then Mary Hinds with children Pat and Dan, and then Inez Martin with children Glen, Bob, and Carolyn.
Ed is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Arco, ID) and his three children:
-James and wife, Teresa (Salem, OR) and children, Rebecca & boyfriend, Chris Moya, (Albuquerque, MN), Shawn and wife, Holly (Salt Lake City, UT), Ashley & husband, Taylor Dalton (Logan, UT), & Michael & wife, Mandi & daughter, Ocee Vance (Salt Lake City, UT);
-Janet (Oakland, CA);
-John and wife, Ashley and children, Tarrah and Tegun (Carson City, NV).
