Edna Rose Venables, 77, of El Frida, AZ died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Flagstaff Medical Center.
She was born in Gladewater, Texas April 1st, 1932 – though her birth certificate is registered for April 2nd due to the fact that she had been born at home! Her parents were Walter Dewey Weatherby and Golda Hudnall.
Rose was a wonderful mother and child care giver. She had grown up in Ajo, Arizona and met her husband, Sam Hocker during her high school years. She is survived by her three daughters, June Osuna, Norma Nelms and Rhonda Davis. She also has five grandsons and five great grandchildren. Her nephew Steve Weatherby, his wife Connie Weatherby and their daughter Kim Westling and her family all still reside here in Flagstaff.
Rose lived in almost every part of Arizona at some time in her life, including Lukeville, Ajo, Gila Bend, Yuma, Flagstaff, Tuba City, Prescott, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Winslow and El Frida. She loved her family, her husband Albert Venables and Dixie Land music. She was an excellent dancer and housekeeper. Thank goodness mother taught us how to clean house! She is one of the most loving people you might have ever known; she had a great sense of humor and a very open heart. We will all miss you dearly, Mom!
