Edna May Dorothy Lund Wood left this earth on February 18, 2012 to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven. Mother died peacefully at our home in Boise, Idaho surrounded by her loving family.

Edna was born August 22, 1915 at Sweetwater, Nebraska. She was one of six children born to Martin and May Lillie Lund. Mother lost her mother and youngest brother in 1919 due to the whopping cough. Mother is the last of her generation. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Oliver, Alvin, Oscar, Albert, her sister, Mable, daughter-in-law, Patricia ‘Pat’ Wood, and her husband of 75 years, Cecil.

Mother met the love of her life in 1932, Cecil Wood. They were married April 6, 1933. To that union a son was born, Robert Landreth Wood. Eleven years later, in Riverton, Wyoming a daughter was born, DeEtta May Wood.

While in Riverton, Mother was very active in her community.

Casper, Wyoming was our next move.

Next move was Caldwell, Idaho, where Mother (much to Daddy’s surprise) bought two homes. She was quite an architect and took on remodeling both homes. From there to Mesa, Arizona, where she was diagnosed with cancer, and beat the odds. In 1999, they moved back to Caldwell, Idaho where they could be near family. Mother always encouraged family get-togethers, the more the better. She always remembered birthdays, anniversaries, and sent encouraging notes to family, friends and neighbors.

Edna is survived by her two children, Robert Wood and DeEtta (Delray) Bassett; six grandchildren, Steven Wood, David (Liesa) Wood, DeLynn Wanders, Connie (Bill) Craig, Michele (Art) Fenton, and Jenny Brazill; fourteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Heartfelt gratitude goes to Delray Bassett for being so wonderful to Mother, your kindness meant more than you’ll ever know. Special thanks goes to Mother’s bath aid and great-grandson, Blake Craig; to George Doumani, for his countless hours of reading the Bible to Mother and being her best friend; to Kim at Elegant Nails; and to Nurse Connie. Also, a very sincere thank you to Vaughn, Bruce, Kyle, Jodi, Tessa, Connie, and Linda of the Legacy Hospice team for all of their support and care.

And to Mother, thank you so much for blessing us with your love and friendship, especially these last few years. It was such a privilege to care for you the way you always cared for us.
