Edna Marlene Drechsler, 84, of Taneytown, died Wednesday October 19, 2022 at Carroll Lutheran Village Healthcare Center. Born April 11, 1938 in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Chester Smith and Edna May Freyman Smith. Her beloved husband Herman Frederick Drechsler died May 17, 2020. She worked for several years at Kessler Shoe and Ames before raising her grandchildren.
Survived by 4 children; Karen Buckingham of Taneytown, Sharon Dimitri of Littlestown, PA, Wanda Miller and husband Alan of Taneytown, Kevin Drechsler and wife Lanette of Frederick, 4 siblings Kathleen Walking of Westminster, Neal Smith and wife Phyllis of Westminster, Sandy Crumbacker and husband Charlie of Taneytown, Lee Barksdale and wife Amy of Littlestown, PA; 8 grandchildren, 2 of whom they raised, Bryan Drechsler and Nicole Gonzalez (Jeff), Kelly, Alan, Bobby, Stephanie, Kayla and Kevin; 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and 3 step-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by sons Clifford and Wayne Drechsler, son-in-law Robert Dimitri, brother Ralph Smith and brother-in-law Ernest Walking.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 1 to 2 p.m.
