Edna M. Greenler, 96, of Jacksonville, IL died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Community Care of Monmouth. She was born March 21, 1913, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Fred G. and Dora Kaehlert Tholen. She married George A. Greenler on Feb. 12, 1938, in Jacksonville, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1995.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan (husband, Mike) McKee of Monmouth; two granddaughters, Denise (husband, Pat) Mascari of Naperville and Kimberly (husband, Jack) Chenault of Lake Hopatcong, N.J.; three great-grandsons; one sister, Esther Morrison of Jacksonville; and one brother, Raymond Tholen of Pleasant Plains. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lorna Treutle.

Mrs. Greenler was a graduate of Jacksonville High School and Passavant School of Nursing. Upon graduation, she worked as a registered nurse at Passavant Hospital, then for the Corpus Christi (TX) Health Department during World War II. After the war, she returned to Jacksonville, working at the Morgan County Health Department. In 1947, she began working at Illinois School for the Visually Impaired, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where she also belonged to the Ladies Aid Group.
