DENAWAY, Edna M. of Comstock, Michiga. Passed away March 19, 2012 in Comstock after a long illness. She was born June 10, 1925 in Comstock to Lynn and Eva Crandall House. A lifelong resident of Comstock, she graduated from Comstock Schools in 1944 where she excelled in softball and tennis.

Following high school, she was united in marriage to Harold “Bud” Zandt who preceded her in death in 1947. She went on to meet William “Bill” Denaway on a blind date. They married May 21, 1949. Edna was known as a strong spirit with a zest for life and an infectious laugh. While taking care of the home, the kids and her husband for many years until his passing in 1992, she also found time to drive bus for Comstock Schools for seven years. Her working career also included Collison’s Market and Klooster Greenhouse.

She was a talented knitter, but preferred time spent outdoors with a hatchet, whittling down a felled tree or a leftover stump. She enjoyed travel and camping, but her greatest love was attending sporting events and activities of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her sister Margaret, brother Raymond “Bud,” and two sons-in-law, Jim Lindstrom and Tom Reilly.

She is survived by her children: Lynette Phil Adams Lindstrom of Comstock, Kathleen Bailey of Comstock, William Denaway of Kalamazoo, Richard Jacki Denaway of Plainwell, Kristine Reilly of Comstock, sister-in-law Betty Denaway of Portage, 10 grandchildren, 8 grand children and her nieces and nephews.
