It is with extreme sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Edna Barrow (née Wernsman), age 86, of Central City. Edna passed on from this life in the presence of loved ones in the early morning hours of January 18, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Edna was born on December 20, 1935 in Vernon, IL, and was the eighth of fifteen children born to Walter and Edna Wernsman. Throughout her life, she remained close with her siblings. Edna graduated from Centralia High School and shortly thereafter, at the age of 18, she met her husband, Finis Barrow. Edna and Finis married on May 28, 1955 and went on to have four children: Vicki, Mark, Tracy, and Christopher. For many years, Edna worked as a seamstress at The Dress Factory and moved on to proudly serve the students in the cafeteria at Centralia City School, a position which she loved.

Following her retirement, Edna enjoyed numerous hobbies; she was known as an excellent quilter and her loved ones treasure the beautiful creations she made for them. Edna took pleasure in putting puzzles together and coloring. She also loved birds and enjoyed watching them gather at her bird feeder. Edna especially delighted in time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was eagerly awaiting the birth of four new great grandchildren. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Edna Wernsman, siblings Dean Wernsman, Dale Wernsman, Jack Wernsman, Jerry Wernsman, Russell Wernsman, Charles Wernsman, Joe Lee Wernsman, Evelyn Stover and Carol Willis.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Finis, siblings Bobby Wernsman, Mike Wernsman, Dorothy Choate, Juanita Bogue, and Jane Peters, and her children Vicki Hake (Gale), Mark Barrow (Lisa), Tracy Terranova, Christopher Barrow (Jennifer), grandchildren Gayla Fields (Darren), Valerie Hauge (Bradley), Garrett Hake (Cindy), Caitlyn Barrow, Brooke Barrow, Samantha Barcum, and Jacob Barcum (MacKenzie) and special friend Pam Barrow. She also leaves four great grandchildren, Emma, Garrison, Harper, and Sebastian. While we mourn the great loss of our dear wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, we rejoice knowing that she is reunited with the loved ones who departed before her.
