Edna Elizabeth “Betty” Aultman, age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and in God’s arms on the 29th of August, 2014.

She was born on the 24th of January 1936 in Montreal, Quebec Canada to Harold and Edna Gingras, who preceded her in death.

Her many vocations in life reflected her abundant imagination.  She spent a short time in a convent considering the monastic life, studied nursing, modeled, and then married and moved to Crestview, FL in 1955 to begin raising a family. Over the next 50 years, she owned and operated several businesses including Tiny Tot Daycare School and Aultman Landscape Nursery.

She was adored by her large family, both in Canada and Crestview.  Her in-laws delighted in her perky, intriguing and determined personality. She was a creative mother and grandmother, always turning adversity into an opportunity for laughter and always creating delightful worlds filled with games and adventures for her babies to play in. She is remembered by her family and friends as being gentle, yet firm, generous, loving unconditionally, and having impeccable integrity.

She is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Ray Hornbaker, who were married June 18th 1999, children Cathy Ates (Steve), Cindy Bracewell (Malcolm), William Aultman (Mary Louise) and Margaret Williams; grandchildren Candace McLeod (Nick),  Mathew Ates (Bobbie Jo), Christa Richards (Greg Jr), Gabrielle Brooks (Ben), Jennifer Derrick (Leo, Jr.) and Rik Littlefield. She will be fondly missed by her great grandchildren Chloe, Lane, Hunter, Drake, Austin, Hannah, Justin, Tristan, Faith and Allie Mae; brother John Gingras (Dorothy); cousin Shirley Mathews, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.  She was preceded in death by her children’s father Donald Ray Aultman, grandson Robbie Ates, and siblings Bob Gingras, Henry Gingras, Harold Gingras, Margaret “Mickey” McMahon and Christine Gingras.

The family would also like to express gratitude to the many care givers who assisted mother, especially Dora “Dorie” Dowd, Emerald Coast/Gentiva Hospice, and Synergy Home Care for our new little angel, Glory Godwin.
