Edna B. Davidsmeyer, 99 years, of South Jacksonville, IL died Tuesday evening, January 22, 2008 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born December 23, 1908 in Nortonville, IL; the daughter of F. Elmer and Sarah Kitchen Newby. She married Arthur Davidsmeyer on April 4, 1935 and he preceded in death in June of 1936.
She is survived by a son, Gene A. Davidsmeyer (wife, Carol) of Naperville; two grandchildren, Mark Davidsmeyer of Richland, WA and Susan Bullinger (husband, Karl) of Iowa City, IA; a nephew, Earl Newby (wife, Jewel) of Jacksonville; three nieces, Helen McCurley (husband, Amos) of Sun City West, AZ, Doris Herman of Katy, TX, and Betty Steward (husband, Merill) of Woodson; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Claude Newby.
Mrs. Davidsmeyer was a 1928 graduate of Franklin High School and was employed for 29 years at J. Capps & Sons in Jacksonville prior to her retirement in 1972. She was a member of Brooklyn United Methodist Church since 1942 where she served many years as membership secretary and as a member of the Rebecca Circle.
