SALEM: Edith (Cunningham) Mayo, 92, died 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Clarksburg Nursing and Rehab, where she had been a resident for the past 16 years. She was born September 2, 1914 at Walker, WV, the daughter of the late McClellan and Elsie Belle (Wharton) Cunningham. Mrs. Mayo was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lester Mayo, Jr., one brother, Clyde L. Cunningham, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is survived by three children, James Edward Mayo and wife Carol Ann of Little Hocking, Ohio, Marilyn Sue Miller and husband Roland of Little Hocking and Billie Jean Ash and husband Lester of Salem. She was a loving grandmother, of seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mayo was a homemaker and a loving mother. She enjoyed her many years at the nursing home where she participated in many activities, including Focus and made many friends among the residents and staff.
