Edith M. Loomis, 86, of Jacksonville, IL died Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jacksonville.
She was born March 26, 1926 in Woodson, IL; the daughter of Homer and Helen Orris Nunes. She married Merritt F. Loomis on March 15, 1946 in Jacksonville and he survives.
She is also survived by three daughters, Janet Ranieri of Rock Springs, WY, Diane Berglof (husband, William) of Silver City, NM, and Sandra Brower of Rock Springs, WY; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Homer Nunes Jr.; and a sister, Betty Stubblefield.
Mrs. Loomis was a 1944 graduate of Jacksonville High School and attended Brown’s Business College.She was staff member of the Dean’s office at Illinois College for 25 years prior to her retirement. She had traveled extensively during her husband’s military service obligations.
