     Edith J. (Luther) Crooker Byrum, 94, a resident of Gooding, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at her home in Gooding.

     Edith Juneora Luther was born on June 4, 1925 in Gooding, Idaho, the daughter of C.A. Luther and Ora Ellen (High) Luther.

     She was raised and educated in Gooding and lived there almost all of her life.  She helped her father and brothers in the cattle and dairy business.  Her father began the first Polled Hereford ranch in Gooding County in 1902.

     Edith had been married several times.  Her first husband – Warner D. Crooker was a volunteer fire chief in Gooding.  They were married in 1947 and were married for almost 20 years when he died of cancer.  Her second marriage to Jewell Woolery in the early 1970’s ended in divorce.  She later met the “love of her life” – Herman Byrum in 1980.  He passed away in 1986.

     Edith is survived by: her son – Charles “Chuck” W. Crooker of Gooding; her brother – Martin Luther of Anderson Island, Washington; one granddaughter – Tracey VanBaalen of Gooding; and four great grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by: her parents; four brothers – John A. Luther, A.B. “Bud” Luther and Charles “Charlie” M. Luther of Gooding and Carter Luther of Jerome; and two sisters – Mary A. Luther of Gooding and Oraetta “Pat” Lindell of Twin Falls.
