Edith DeFilippo Acabbo, 97, of 65 Messina Drive, East Haven, passed away June 22, 2016 in Branford Hills Health and Rehab. She was the widow of John Acabbo and was a former resident of Meadowview St., New Haven. Mrs. Acabbo was born in East Haven on May 25, 1919, daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline Bianchino DeFilippo. She worked as a waitress at the former College Spa on College St. in downtown New Haven for many years. She is survived by two daughters, Rose Ranne of Loganville, GA. and Edith (Guy) Rozier of Voorhees, N.J.; daughter in law, Lonny Acabbo; two grandchildren, Pamela (Pat) Marino of Guilford and Linda (Jonathan) Barberi of Snellville, GA.; three great grandchildren, Jackson & Ella Barberi and Gennaro Marino; and twenty nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her son, John Acabbo; her son in law, John Ranne Jr.; four brothers, James, Emilio, Fred and John DeFilippo and four sisters, Adeline Monaco, Rose Guarino, Katherine Miller and Annette Citerella. The family would like to thank all Edith’s caregivers over the years for their love and attention.
