Edith C. Johnson of Galesburg passed away at 9:47 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center. She was born January 12, 1930 in rural Monmouth, Illinois the daughter of Wiley and Maude Simmons Neal.
Edith had also lived in Monmouth, Illinois and Grimes, Iowa and had lived with her niece, Jean (Gary) Theobald in Galesburg for five years before entering Rosewood. She worked for Care at Home for several years and attended Calvary Assembly of God Church in Galesburg and belonged to the former Open Bible Church in Grimes. She enjoyed working picture and crossword puzzles and reading.
She is survived by two sons, Ron (Bridget Parker) Johnson and Tim (Dawn) Johnson both of Des Moines, Iowa, grandchildren, Shawn (Ana) Redding, Tami (Jerry) Smock, Matthew Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Erin Heinrich, Cassandra Bachmeyer, Alyssa (Kevin) Mayer and Alec Johnson and several great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her daughter Susan (Dan) Redding and two sons, Dan Johnson and David (Lisa) Johnson. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Odell, Carter, Oscar, Clint, Ernest and Donald; three sisters, Ellen Ryan, Mandy Logsdon, and Juanita Lee.
