Edith C. Edie Davis, 83, of Jacksonville, IL December 4, 2009 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born May 9, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA; the daughter of Alva and Ruth Corrao. She married Dr. Robert Lee Davis on August 14, 1948 in Oconomowoc, WI and he survives.
She is also survived by a son, Eric Davis (wife, Susan) of Topeka, KS; three granddaughters, Alison, Erica and Carolyn Davis, all of Topeka, KS; three great grandchildren, Sean, William and Nicholas Davis, all of Topeka, KS; and a niece and a nephew, Diane and Steve Lueptow, both of Akron, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Leigh Anne Holloway in 1989; and a sister, Jean Lueptow (surviving husband, Lloyd of Ft. Myers, FL).
A 1948 graduate of MacMurray College, Mrs. Davis taught school for 36 years in Jacksonville School District #117. She was an active member and volunteer in many capacities at the Congregational Church UCC in Jacksonville. She was also an active member of the MacMurray College Alumni Association and volunteered for many college events. In addition, she was a devoted volunteer with Passavant Hospital Auxiliary, Strawn Art Gallery, and the Beaux Arts Ball. A talented artist, she enjoyed creating crafts and decorations for her church and her college.
