Edgell (Ed) Gooden passed into his eternal home on Friday, November 11th, 2022, and will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.

Edgell was born on November 20, 1931, in Wheeling, West Virginia and later attended the University of West Virginia, where he met his beloved wife, Alice. The two married in 1954 and had many great years of love and happiness together. While attending university he joined the ROTC program and went on to receive his Masters in Nuclear Physics. After graduation he soon received orders from the Air Force to report for duty in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Once stationed he was assigned to a three-man inspection team of Naval Bases around the world, and after eighteen months he was released from active duty and placed on ready reservist status.

Remaining in Albuquerque he had a decorated career working at Sandia National Labs, The Charles W. Fowler, Co., and lastly EG&G Ortec over the years. Edgell was also a licensed New Mexico General Contractor for many years and built some of the homes in Albuquerque and surrounding areas. He never shied away from trying something new or learning a new skill.
Ed will always be known for being an avid Dallas Cowboy Football fan and never wavered in his loyalty to them (no matter how hard that was at times). He could often be found in front of the TV on Sundays watching the Cowboys game with his wife Alice by his side.

Edgell is survived by his sister, Beverly Forsyth of Greensburg, PA; son, Clayton and wife, Joan of Rio Rancho, NM; daughter, Debbie of Sisters, OR; three grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, and Morgan, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Alice, and his grandson, Steven.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the loving care and compassion Ed received while in the care of the Retreat Gardens Assisted Living Facility in Rio Rancho NM and Hospice De La Luz.
