DURHAM Mr. Edgar Paul Moore, 87, of Durham, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018, after a long period of . Moore was born in Harnett County, the son of the late Ed Moore and Della Byrd Moore. He served in the U. S. Air Force, first in Japan during the Korean War and then as an avionics maintenance instructor at Chanute AFB, IL. After separating from the military he ultimately settled in Durham, NC. He worked and retired after 35 years from the Central Carolina Farmers Exchange in Durham where he ultimately was the Operations Manager of the Egg Processing Plant. He was recognized considerate and effective supervisor/plant manager; he then completed a shorter 10-year stint with SCM Metal Products, Inc in the Research Triangle was a man of faith, a lifelong and active member of RTP Community Church, serving in a variety of member and leadership roles, over several decades. He was known for his compassion and service; quietly visited the sick and grieving, and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. He enjoyed playing softball in his early years at Farmers Exchange;. He had a lifelong passion for fishing, and was very skilled at mechanical work, revealed by a single visit to his backyard workshop. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Lester Moore and Silas Earl Moore (killed in action in the Battle of the Bulge) and two young sisters lost early in life, Virginia Moore and Diane is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth Stone Moore; two sons, Alan Jeffery Moore of Burke, Va. and Barry Steven Moore of Durham; brother, Clarence Edward Moore of Dunn and three grandchildren, Lindsey Moore Brown, Rebecca Ross-Mae Moore and Emily Alexandra Natalia Morris.m. at RTP Community Church, in Durham, NC. Rev. Devon Blanton will officiate, supported by Rev. Roger Wall.m..
