Edgar “Pat” Parker, 89, of Sandoval, passed away Friday, November 8, 2019 at his home, where he was born. He was born January 30, 1930 in Sandoval, son of Joe Parker and Frances Julia (Thomas) Parker. He married Nellie Noller on March 22, 1954 and they later divorced.
Pat is survived by his six children: Debra Meredith of Centralia, Cherry Wiedle-Stewart of Shattuc, L. Joe Parker and wife Connie of Centralia, Alicia Phillips and husband Brad of Centralia, Kristie Greene and husband Mark of Centralia, and Genny Luitjohan and husband Keith of Centralia; 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; three sisters: Agnes Caywood of St. Charles, Pauline Kaye Stearns of Carterville, and Jackie Jo Parker of Panama City Beach, Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, companion: Eleanor Hawn, four son-in-laws: Kennie Meredith, Robert Wiedle, Rick Stewart, and Ralph Cooper, a sister: Faye Ann Merrit and a brother: Allen Parker.
Pat served in the U.S. Army in the 40th Tank Battalion. He worked in Construction and Carpentry for 45 plus years. He was a member of the Patoka American Legion Post 543 and a member of the Odin Masonic Lodge 503. Pat enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working and his Boston Terriers.
He was very involved in the Sandoval community and even had his own chair at Whitie’s Barber Shop in Sandoval. Pat enjoyed traveling all over the state with his family to watch his grandchildren to play basketball. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. Funeral Services for Edgar “Pat” Parker will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Mark Greene officiating. Burial will follow at the Sandoval Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the gravesite by the Patoka American Legion Post 532.
