The family of Edgar Alfred Ralston mourns his passing on March 22, 2021. He will be missed for his humor, wit, kindness, humility, and eccentricities! Ed was born in Springdale, PA on December 22, 1937. He lived around the world and on the seas via various posts with the Merchant Marines and 20 years of military service in the Army and Air Force. One of his jobs was tracking astronauts’ vital signs for the Gemini space missions. After settling in the Phoenix area, he met and married the love of his life, Georgiann, on February 14, 1967. Ed was enamored with Georgiann for the rest of his days, never losing sight of the love they shared. After a 20 year career with Motorola and 14 years of service as a helicopter crew chief with the Arizona National Guard, Ed retired, turning his sights on serving his community. He was a volunteer for St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church Food Bank, Hospice of the Valley, HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Hospital, and the IT department of the City of Scottsdale. While many people are content with what they already know by the age of 83, Ed was a student all his life. He read vigorously about world history, spoke five languages, was a highly-skilled gardener, adored by every animal he met, and generously donated to philanthropic causes. He was respected for his seemingly endless knowledge, and adored for his thunderous belly laugh.
