Eddie William Higgins, Jr. 84, of Centralia, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.He was born October 8, 1931 in Carlyle, son of Eddie Higgins, Sr. and Ethel (Parks) Cole. He married Peggy Finckbone on September 1, 1975 and she survives in Centralia.
In addition to his wife of 40 years, he is also survived by seven children: Eddie Higgins and wife Sherri of Centralia, Howard Higgins and girlfriend Ruth Hall of Centralia, Ethel Taylor of Centralia, Darrell Higgins of Anna, Suzan Miller and husband Brandon of Irvington, Eddie Higgins, IV and wife Brezzy of Altamont and Amanda Deadmond and husband Peanut of Sandoval; several grandkids, several great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids; a brother: Herschel Higgins and wife Barbara of Centralia; a sister, Lillian Taylor of Jamul, CA; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Richard Higgins, 2 daughters: Linda Higgins and Lynn Roberts, 3 brothers: Earl Higgins, Sr., Robert Higgins, and Clyde Higgins, a sister: Pearl Cooley and a niece, Barbara Evans.Mr. Higgins served in the U.S. Army. He owned a scrap yard. He enjoyed family vacations, camping, and auctions. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends.
