Gale Edward “Eddie” Stinnett, 67, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., died from a sudden heart attack that called him home to his Lord, November 28, 2012. Known for his sparkling smile, the twinkle in his eyes and the spring in his step, “Eddie” found his way into the hearts of all who met this 40 year resident of Fort Oglethorpe. He was an outstanding councilman serving the citizens of the City of Fort Oglethorpe, standing on the motto, “If it ain’t right, don’t do it.” Eddie was known for his outspokenness and bringing a “truth” voice to the people. His creative nature and abilities have been seen on the streets of Fort Oglethorpe with his original sign holders and garden art. Eddie enjoyed people, talking to all who he encountered about Jesus and the love of the Lord. He served as a deacon at Fort Oglethorpe First Baptist where he was a member of the Fisherman’s Sunday School, security team, personnel committee, and a door greeter known for helping elderly ladies and those in need. When Eddie made a friend, he was a friend for life. Many knew and loved him as a hunting buddy, welder, councilman, fix-it man, volunteer, and general all round good guy ready to help anyone in need.
