An adventurous heart left this earth on Jan. 18, 2013. Eddie R. LaRue, MSGT US Air Force retiree, was born on Mar. 22, 1935 in Erie Kansas the son of Samuel Max LaRue and Bernadine Ellen McKinney.
He married his sweetheart, Alice Joy Surrage, April 7, 1958 in Abilene Texas. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple for time and all eternity.
He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1953 and served his country for 20 years. He specialized in Electronic Counter Measure and Titan Missiles. His favorite assignment was the SR71 spy plane. He instilled in his family a sense of patriotism, service, and love of this country. Being in the Air Force allowed his family to travel.
Eddie realized retirement was not in his nature. He tried several different job opportunities. He worked for Basin Land and Livestock as a ranch foreman, Weber School District as a bus driver, and Dallas Green Inc.
He enjoyed many activities such as water skiing, fishing, camping, hunting, and showing ponies. He also had a love for flying and he earned his pilots license. Eddie especially loved spending time with his family and supporting them in their many activities.
He is survived by his loving wife, Alice; three sons, Randy (Pam) of Austin CO, Ron (Fran) of Warren UT, Ross (Janae) of Warren UT, and one daughter, Glenda Lee (Tim) of West Haven UT; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Rodney LaRue of Holbrook ID and one sister, LouAnn Yarnell of Topeka KS. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and a great grandson.
