Missionary Eddie Mae “Coota” Reed Whisenhunt was a pillar and a dedicated praying woman in the community of McIntosh, AL. She departed this life on Thursday, November 22, 2018. Missionary Whisenhunt was born June 5, 1943 to the union of the late Mother Claudia Mae Thomas Reed and Bro. T. C. Reed Sr.; she was seventy-five years of age.
She was a faithful and dedicated member of New Beginning Apostolic Church, Highway 43, McIntosh, AL. There she served faithfully as a missionary/teacher and church mother. She was true to her calling in Christ Jesus. She was known as the praying woman that wore the hat everywhere she went.
A graduate of McIntosh High School, she was honored as “Miss McIntosh High.” She also was a great runner and competed against the late Wilma Rudolph. She was the CEO, owner, and head cook of “Charlie’s Restaurant” in McIntosh, AL for nine years.
Eddie was sixteen years old when she married the love of her life, Charlie Whisenhunt Jr. They were married on November 13, 1959 and shared fifty-nine blessed years. She died in his arms on November 22, 2018.
Preceding her in death were her parents, T.C. Sr. and Claudia Mae Thomas Reed.
The love she had and her sweet memories will always be cherished by her devoted husband of fifty-nine years, Charlie L. Whisenhunt Jr. of McIntosh, AL; three sons, Charlie L, Whisenhunt, III of Atlanta, GA, Christopher (Jennifer) Whisenhunt and Carlos R. Whisenhunt, both of Birmingham, AL; three daughters, Karen W. (Marvin Sr.
