Eddie B. Gallegos of Denver, Colorado passed away on October 18, 2019 at the age of 81.
Eddie was next to youngest of 10 children born to Celestino and Maria Delfina Gallegos. He was raised on the family farm in Canon, Colorado, in the San Luis Valley. He began working for Martin Marietta in Denver, Colorado, not long after graduation from McCurdy School in Santa Cruz, New Mexico. Drafted by the Army in 1960, he served nearly two years in Germany. Returning to work at Martin Marietta, he spent a total of 36 years and worked on many aerospace projects including the Titan Missiles, Mariner, Skylab, Viking Lander, and Space Shuttle external tanks programs. He spent time working at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in La Canada, California, White Sands Missile Range in Alamogordo, New Mexico, Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
