Earnestine was the youngest child born to The late Reverend Paul James and Lillie Mae Tucker Hubbard in Moulton, Alabama on March 29, 1946. She departed this life at home on March 17, 2015. She was a 1964 graduate of Moulton High School where she was a cheerleader, majorette and in the school choir. Earnestine confessed Christ at an early age and was raised and baptized at Freeman Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where her father served as Associate Pastor. She later joined Town Creek Number One Baptist Church in Town Creek, Alabama. She served faithfully on the Mother’s Board, as an usher, a choir member and the Missionary Society. Earnestine was a retired General Motors employee and was a proud member of UAW Local 2195, a member of UAW Women’s committee and part of the Martin Luther King Scholarship Program. She was a dedicated member of Progressive Chapter #464 Order of the Eastern Star where she served faithfully. Earnestine married her high school sweetheart William “Buddy” Wallace Clay, who preceded her in death on December 10, 1985.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Lottie B. Pruitt and Eloise Cole Woods; three brothers, Paul Leonard Hubbard, Cleophus Hubbard and Hillman James Hubbard.
She leaves to cherish her memory: three children, Yulonda Clay Fields of Town Creek, Alabama, William “Bubba” Edward Clay (Anita) of Birmingham, Alabama and Terry “Toby” Brian Clay of Petersburg, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Antuan Gholston Simone Fields, Henry Jackson, Breauna Waldrop, Kierra Waldrup, Jaret Milligan, Dashauna Fields and Madison Clay; one greatgrandchild, Nire Jackson; brother-in-law, John Charles Clay (Irene) of Louisville, Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Annie Sue Jones of Mobile, Alabama and Alma Hubbard of Florence, Alabama; Earnestine thrived being around her co-workers, friends and family where she enjoyed singing, laughing and calling those she loved “Honey”. She leaves behind a large family of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends. Special friends, Fannie Garth, Donald Davis, Bessie Owens, Billy Ray Young, Sheree Miller, Glenda Bailey, Nettie Pruitt and Emma Garth; three devoted and loving great nieces, Jackie Clark, Allison “Bootsie” Billings and Fran Bush.
