Earnest T. Young was born to the late Earnest and Hettie Fuller Young on June 16, 1935, in Moulton, Alabama. He departed this life on January 5, 2018, at Decatur Health and Rehab Nursing Home, Decatur AL.

Over the years Earnest was affectionately called Tootie, Choo-Choo, T, Paw-Paw, Daddy, Pappa Tootie, Grand Daddy and Pappa Rock.

He attended the Old Moulton High School and was a member of the Moulton Gophers football team.

On March 17, 1957, he married Bertha Carlean Alexander and to this union four children were born; Clarissa, Stacey, Fernita and Tamara.

He accepted Christ under the leadership of Elder Thomas Townsend at the  Pentecostal House of Prayer, Huntsville, AL and later served as a Deacon at The Miracle Light of Prayer, Moulton, AL.

He loved raising hogs and gardening, and could cook a mean pot of turnip greens. He  retired from Wolverine Tube in Decatur AL. 

Preceding him in death were: his parents, Earnest and Hettie Young; a son, Stacey O. Young; siblings, Hazette, Florence Marie, Marshall T and Lymos Bobby Young, Minnie Frances Gholston and Emma Sue Echols.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of over 60 years, Bertha Carlean Alexander Young; children Clarissa (Andrew) Butler Decatur AL, Fernita (Dale) Robinson, Newport AR,  Tamara (Sidney) Matthews, Pinson AL; one daughter-in-law, Sandra Young of Franklin, TN, eight grandchildren, Stephen  Young, Erica (Vandale) Gentry, Chace, Cambria, Sidney and Callin Matthews, Donna and Irrelon Robinson Jr; six great grandchildren, Leondra, Aaliyah and Kasie Robinson, Jerretha and Jerry Cole Jr., Caden Gentry; three sisters, Annie Faye Gossett and Samella Young both of Aliquippa PA, Elisabeth Louise Jones, Moulton, AL; two sisters-in-law, Willie Nadine Young and Rosa K. Alexander both of Moulton, AL; one special in-law, Burnice Nell Echols of Decatur, AL;  and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
