Earline Campbell Patterson was born on February 17, 1930 to Freddie Campbell and Odie Batts in Morgan County, Alabama.  She departed this life peacefully, surrounded by her family and the Reverend Robert Hereford, Sr. on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Decatur-Morgan Hospital Decatur General Campus.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, James W. Patterson, a daughter Marian Patterson, son, Mark E. Patterson, and grandson, Quincy L. Patterson.  She was a life-long faithful and diligent member of Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she served on the Board of Trustees and was the church mother. She adored her church and church family.

Mrs. Patterson leaves to hold her memory in their hearts, three sisters: Alice M. Rice, Linda Campbell, and Luella Rice; a brother, Lester Campbell, her five surviving children:  Shirley A. Garner, Sandra Patterson-Jackson (Dr. Leroy Jackson), James Larry Patterson (Mrs. Elizabeth Patterson), Patty Glosson (Mr. Don Glosson), and Alphonso James Patterson [Mrs. Sonya Patterson]; 17 grandchildren: Charles, Cheri and James Garner; Stanton W. and Monica F. Patterson; Randi A. Swinney, Alphonso R. Johnson and John Junkins (Tracy); Marla Orr and Shenetha Patterson; Omari O. Jackson; Brandon Patterson (Davina) and LaTosha Gordon (Jarrod); 18  great grandchildren; and, 2 great, great granddaughters.  She also leaves several beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and special Semper Fidelis Sisters: Mrs. Billie Philips, Mrs. Annie J. Woodruff, and Dr. Celvia Stovall.

Mrs. Patterson served the Decatur and surrounding communities for many years as a day care center founder, director and volunteer.  She also extended a caring helpful hand to children and families through her work as the Director of the Quad County Child Nutrition Program. She was a Girl Scout leader, voter registrar, community volunteer and office assistant at Big Brothers, Big Sisters Serving Morgan, Lawrence, Winston and Cullman Counties.  She lived her faith through her good works and will be dearly missed.
