Earl W. Tish, 83, of Newton died due to a stroke on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Earl, the son of Alfred and Dena (Van Hoover) Tish, was born on March 17, 1934 on the family farm in Poweshiek County, Iowa.  He grew up in the Montezuma area helping work on the family farm, a farm in which he would later own.  Earl graduated from Montezuma High School.

On June 1, 1956, Earl was united in marriage with Marilyn Slay in Oskaloosa.  A short time later Earl left to serve his country in the U.S. Army, serving until his honorable discharge in 1958.

Earl is survived by his wife, Marilyn Tish of Newton; children, Kevin (Cyndi) Tish of Newton and Kimbra (Kevin) Korte of Newton; five grandchildren, Brandon (Kelsey) Tish, Blake Tish, Bryce Tish, Erin (Todd) Dickerson, and Brad Korte; his great-grandchildren, Hailey and Celeste Dickerson; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Colleen (Lavern) Johnson and Norma Jean (Jim) Farrington.
