Earl W. Schwirian, 86, a resident of Newnan, Georgia, passed peacefully from this life to be with his Lord and Savior on July 18, 2016. Earl was born on July 29, 1929, in McKeesport, PA the second of six children to William and Miriam Schwirian.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Nina B. Schwirian, as well as his son Earl W. Schwirian Jr. and his wife Anne of Mableton, GA, his daughter Amy L. Schwirian of Peachtree City, GA and his sister Ann Flanders and her husband Buck of Littleton, CO. Growing up and attending public school through high school in McKeesport, PA, Earl attended the University of Pittsburgh, graduating with a BS in Chemical Engineering. While at Pitt, Earl was a member of the Army ROTC/Reserve program. He was called to active duty in 1952 and served in the Korean War with the 378th Engineer Combat Battalion as a 2nd Lieutenant, earning the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. Returning to the US and being discharged from the Army, he married Nina B. Jones on June 4, 1954. While living in Akron, OH, and working as an Engineer with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, he attended Kent State University, earning his Master’s degrees in both Chemical Engineering and Business Administration.

Earl enjoyed a long career in Chemical Engineering, working for an array of companies including, but not limited to, International Latex/Standard brands in Dover, DE, Air Products and Chemicals in Middlesex, NJ, and finally National Starch in Greenville, SC. While with National Starch, Earl leads the company’s International Research and Development Division, working with operations in Europe and the Far East.

Earl retired in 1995, and he and Nina moved to Wallace, NC in 1997. In November of 2014, they moved to the Newnan, GA area to be closer to their children as health issues developed. Throughout his life, Earl, and later his wife Nina, have always been active members of churches in the towns where they lived. Raised in the Baptist faith, Earl was a deacon and choir member in many of the churches where they were members. They were the last members of the First Baptist Church in Wallace, NC.
