Earl W. Johnson, “The Coon Hunter,” of Mt. Sterling, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018, at his home at the age of 73.

Born in Magoffin County on March 4, 1945, he was the son of Parker and Eula Bell Back Johnson.

Earl is survived by his wife, Carrie “Tiny” Johnson; three children: Earlynnia (Daniel) Dyer of Mt. Sterling, Shawn (Melissa) Johnson of Jeffersonville, Stephanie (Terry) Lawson of Mt. Sterling; three grandsons: Riley Lawson, Reese Johnson, and Avery Charles; four sisters: Mattie (Ron) Slack, Easter (Dan) Callahan, Parketta Meggitt, all of Norwalk, Ohio, Saundra (Chuck) Goldrick of Daytona, Florida; one brother-in-law: Oscar Ray (Patricia) Isaac of Winchester; special cousin: Terry (Callie) Rowe of Salyersville; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Earl was an active member of the Montgomery County Coon Hunters Club, KY Houndsmen Association, VFW, AmVets, American Legion Post 22, Mt.
