Earl “Hank” Richardson Banzhoff, 93, of Williamsport, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Hearthside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in State College, Pa.
Born Dec. 23, 1917, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late William and Martha Robinette Banzhoff. On Oct. 25, 1945, he married the former Betty Agnes Bowman, who survives at home.
Before retiring, Hank was employed at Grove Manufacturing and the Pangborn Corp. as a design draftsman.
He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army as an artillery engineer during World War II.
He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Williamsport. He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards and being outdoors, especially fishing along the Potomac River.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Banzhoff Cathcart of State College, Pa.; daughter-in-law, Deborah (Barto) Banzhoff of Hagerstown, Md.; his grandchildren, Ann, Kathryn, Jessica and Joseph; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Scott Windle Banzhoff, on Aug. 30, 2010; two sisters, Catherine and Margaret; and two brothers, Eugene and Victor.
