Earl Howard Meyer
A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Earl Howard Meyer was born in Colgan, North Dakota on April 3, 1919. He participated in sports and played the clarinet and saxophone with the high school band while growing up in rural North Dakota and New Albin, Iowa. Working his way through college with his own band, Earl Howard and His Stepping Tones, he received a bachelor’s degree at University of Iowa in Civil Engineering. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army and served in Europe in World War II. He was Day 3 in Normandy and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
