Earl G. Smith, 88 Troy Earl G. Smith, 88, of Burdett Avenue and formerly High Street Cohoes, died Thursday at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center Troy. Born in Endicott, NY he was son of the late Ora George and Lillian Louise MacPherson Smith and husband of the late Edna Gavigan Smith. They were married 48 years. He had resided in Cohoes many years and since 1992 in Brunswick. Mr. Smith was employed after World War II at Ludlow Valve Company in Troy making water line valves for plumbing, then began work at Behr-Manning. Later, Earl worked at the Ford Motor Company factories for many years, and made radiators for cars, when it was still in Green Island. He retired from Ford Motor Company in the late 1970’s. He and his wife also bought a summer camp, on Forest Lake in Grafton, where the Smith family enjoyed most of their summers. He was a member of the Forest Lake Association and UAW Ford Motor Company. He was a cook in the US Army during World War II serving in Central Europe and Rhineland. Survivors include a son Gerald K. Smith and wife Mary Lynn of Cohoes; a daughter Susan K. Fleszar and husband Mark of Troy and three grandchildren Brian Earl Smith of Cohoes, Aubrey Kristen and Sara Lynn Fleszar of Troy. He was predeceased by three brothers Clarence, Royal and Archie Smith and a sister Dorothy S. McMullen.
