Earl E. Brooks, 92, of West Lafayette, passed away on March 10, 2022, surrounded by family.

He was born to Raymond and Katie (Peneton) Brooks, on June 14, 1929, in Lafayette, IN.  Earl served in the Marines before being honorably discharged.  Earl was proud to be a member of the Lafayette Fire Department, serving the citizens of Lafayette for 25 years, rising to the rank of Captain before retiring.  Following the LFD, Earl worked for Burns Security at Caterpillar as the Fire and Safety Officer.

Earl leaves behind his wife, Jo Brooks of West Lafayette, daughter, Catherine Davis of Lafayette, stepdaughters, Leslie (husband Peter) Gaudreau of Carmel and Laura (husband Edward) Moffat of West Lafayette, brothers, Jerry Brooks of Kentucky and Ronald (wife Elsie) Brooks of Florida, and sister-in-law Bert Brooks.  Also surviving are grandchildren, Katherine (fiancé Tyler Close) Davis, Kristina (husband Thomas) Flynn, Justin Gaudreau, Ryan Moffat, great-granddaughter Eleanor Flynn, and many nieces and nephews.

Earl was preceded in death by parents Raymond and Katie Brooks, brothers Raymond, James, Charles, Forest, and John “Wayne,” sister Wilma, sons Steven “Randy” Brooks, and David Earl Brooks, and grandson, Steven Brooks II.

Earl was a member of Firefighter Retirees and the American Legion.  Earl was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed Purdue sports.  He spent happy summers fishing and boating at his cottage on the Tippecanoe River, with his beloved cocker spaniels always by his side.
