Marty Perry a long time resident of Cocoa Beach passed away peacefully on January 7, 2016; she was 90. Marty was preceded in death in 2010 by her loving husband of 64 years, Jim Perry.
Marty was born in Syracuse, New York. She attended Nursing training at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY, putting her dream on hold to marry Jim and raise a family in Akron, Ohio. Marty later graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1959 from Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in CA, a degree she was extremely proud of and framed how she lived her life. She maintained her nursing license well into her 80’s. “Nurse” Marty as she was known to many had a very diverse nursing career that included her residency in a TB asylum in the late 50’s in California, working in Brevard county as an office nurse in several doctor’s offices, as an operating room staff nurse in several hospitals, as Director of Nursing at Sebastian River Medical Center and Hospital Administrator for the former Adare Nursing Home in Rockledge.
