Our dear, darling DYLAN ELIAS MITCHELL passed away in Boulder on Friday, May 20, 2016. Born in Columbus, Ohio on February 11, 1986, Dylan is survived by parents Cathy Graff and Robert Mitchell of Jefferson County, siblings Johanna Graff, Tori Graff, Keira McMahon, and Seth Mitchell, nieces Olivia and Cora McDaniel, nephew Logan McMahon, and other loving family and friends.

Dylan was smart, witty, and loving. Memories bring smiles and tears every hour every day, but they can never fill the void Dylan leaves.

Dylan loved science (Thank you, Bill Nye!), Star Wars, and all Denver sports, but he was rarely happier than at a Rockies game. The baseball Todd Helton tossed him in the stands in 2013 was one of his most prized possessions, along with his Todd Helton autograph on a restaurant napkin in Thornton where they met. (Thank you, Todd.)

We enjoyed baseball games with Dylan in Columbus, Durham, Denver, Colorado Springs, Pittsburgh, and Los Angeles. At Dylan’s request, we traveled to D.C. to see Michael Jordan play on Dylan’s 16th birthday. Dylan left us a lifetime of Rockies and Broncos jerseys and regalia.

Those who wish may consider sharing their time and resources, in Dylan Mitchell’s name, with any organization committed to the prevention and treatment of substance abuse. Phoenix Multisport, 2233 Champa St., Denver, is just one example of such an organization and one that Dylan so enjoyed near the end of his short life.

We remember the words of Bob Dylan that we sang endlessly to our Dylan when he was a baby: “May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung, may you stay forever young.”

Sadly, Dylan Mitchell will now be forever young to us, and we are heart-broken.

We are so grateful to all the family and friends who have reached out to us through this devastating time. All contacts and kindnesses have meant a great deal to us. Thank you and love to everyone.
