Dwight Jerome “Jerry” Allcott passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020, from natural causes, in Nampa, Idaho, at the age of 89.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Charmain Allcott. Additionally, he is survived by his four children: Karen Allcott, Lance (Cyndi) Allcott, Linda (Mark) Pedersen, and Kim (Glenn) Whitaker, and four stepchildren: Rhonda (Wayne) Taylor, Terry (Michelle) Mote, Allen Mote, and Sheri Mote. Jerry has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings: Phylys Burns, Bart Allcott, Shirley Garrett, and Keith (Janet) Allcott.
He served as President of the Idaho Salers Association for over 20 years. Salers were his favorite breed of cattle and his herd bulls are scattered to ranches far and wide. He also actively promoted the Canyon County 4-H and helped and sponsored many kids to learn through 4-H programs.
Jerry couldn’t wait to get out into the wilderness to appreciate all of God’s creation. He really loved fishing and hunting – elk, deer, chukar, and pheasant were some of his favorites. He has caught too many fish to count – steelhead, trout, salmon, halibut, dorado and tuna.
Jerry had great respect for the military, although he did not serve because of head of household concerns. He joined the AFD in its place. He had a special bond with his close friend, Gary Sayler, retired Major General from the Idaho Air National Guard.
He was such a great helper, servant, neighbor and mentor. Always there for friends, family and strangers too. So much so that you can’t count the number of people who loved him as a father! He could fix just about anything with that good old “can do” American Ingenuity.
His caring and giving even got deeper when he met Jesus at the young age of 73. As he was going to be with the Lord, his son Lance heard Jesus say, “He’s not only coming to me, I AM personally coming to get him.” That’s exactly what He did too, and his son got to witness it.
He had a deep love for his family and friends. For the past 37 years, Jerry’s passion has been raising beef cattle. He enjoyed fishing and eating oatmeal raisin cookies.
Jerry’s family wishes to thank the wonderful care given by the staff at The Cottages in Nampa. A special thanks to Ashley Copeland (his granddaughter) of Heart ‘n Home Hospice and Palliative Care, for her constant and dedicated care.
