Dwight Everett Briggs passed away Friday morning September 2, 2016 at Corydon Specialty Care where he has been a resident since 1999.
Dwight was born February 8, 1942 at the family home in Lucas County to Everett and Clara Briggs.
Before his disability he was a self-employed logger. He later went to work as a loader man at Sargents Quarries in Decatur, Iowa and then driving a truck for Gilbert Trucking. In 1994 Dwight suffered a debilitating stroke.
He is survived by five children; Shellie (Craig) Benson of Ankeny, Alan (Juillete) Briggs of Rapid City, South Dakota, Mary Bailey of Newton, Shannon (Stephany) Wetterling of Leon and Vince (Amanda) Wetterling of Humeston. Sister Norma (Pearl) Teater of Derby and brother Larry (Dixie) Briggs of Chariton. Grandchildren Shyanne Wetterling, Taylor Wetterling, Shanna Wetterling, Tanner Wetterling, Maggie Wetterling, Lauren Benson, Randy Briggs, Raven Briggs, Megan Baily, Erin Bailey and Mark Baily and many other family members that will love and miss Dwight dearly.
