Dwayne Charles Roy passed away Thursday, January 5th, 2023, upon arriving home in Eagle Lake, Mississippi. He was born in Cottonport, Louisiana to Charles Joseph Roy and Ola Jane (Lemoine) Roy on September 10th, 1954. He was a master of all arts, a man with endless gifts. In his earlier years, Dwayne raised and broke his own horses. He held a special place in his heart for appaloosas. He built his own boats and nets and made a living as a commercial fisherman. In 1999, he and his son, Josh Roy, founded Roy’s Construction. Dwayne was a hard worker and loved his career. He considered much of his work a hobby. Dwayne was a talented craftsman. He could build or fix just about anything. He was best known for his woodwork. He built many beautiful homes, furniture pieces, and other objects. He spent four years racing and building mud trucks. Dwayne was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed taking in the beauty of nature. He lived life to the fullest and made a friend in everyone. He was a simple man with a heart of gold. Dwayne was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was an interesting man with many stories to tell. Dwayne was one of a kind.
Dwayne is survived by his significant other, Karen Roy; three sons, Joe Roy (Tracy), John Roy (Jenny), and Josh Roy (Catherine); six grandchildren, Caetlyn Roy (Johnathan), Sarah Roy, Joseph Jr. Roy, Cheyenne Roy, Dalton Roy, and Lillian Roy; one great grandson, John Ridge Brown; a sister, Tonga Vinson (Joe); a brother-in-law, Norman Williams; four nephews, Johnnie Williams (Susan), Kenny (Bit) Williams (Jody), Scott Williams (Dena), and Kevin Vinson (Dawn); and one niece, Shona Cook (Mike).
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dennis and Rose Roy; maternal grandparents, Alton and Manerva Lemoine; parents, Charles Joseph and Ola Jane (Lemoine) Roy; and a sister, Trudy (Roy) Williams.
The family would like to personally thank Karen Roy, for providing support and much help throughout his illness; Dwayne’s good friend, Lou Parker, for making possible a final resting place that he always wished for; and Eagle Lake Baptist, for their preparations in the repast.
