Dusty Alan Reid, 34, of Hobbs, NM passed away on Thursday April 27, 2023, in Hobbs. Dusty was born on October 6, 1988, in Socorro, NM. Dusty graduated in 2007 from Hobbs High School. Throughout Dusty’s life he was known for his contagious smile, big dimples, and his big blue eyes. Dusty grew up and spent most of his childhood on his Mema and Pepa’s farm, Reid Farms, in Loving, NM. Dusty was taught by his Pepa, Johnny Reid, at a very young age to farm and drive a tractor. Dusty always looked forward to the breakfast or lunch that his Mema, Jackie Reid, had prepared for them once their farm work was at a stopping point. Dusty began his rodeo days at 7 years old participating in the ECJRA, LCJRA and the TCYHC. Dusty loved team roping, calf roping, and participated in many, many rodeos. He made it to the New Mexico High School Rodeo Finals and Texas High School Rodeo Region Finals. Dusty was an incredibly talented roper; he won many buckles and saddles. As Dusty grew into adulthood, he began working in the oilfield as a heavy equipment operator. Dusty cherished time with his family and friends. Dusty has resided in Hobbs for the past 9 years with his wife and two daughters, whom he loved, cherished, and adored.

Dusty is survived by his spouse Denita Reid, daughters Cynthia (Cici) Menchaca and Taylynn Reid of Hobbs, NM; Parents Toby & Dawn Reid of Loving, NM and Melissa Sullivan of Socorro, NM; Paternal grandparents, Johnny & Jackie Reid of Loving, NM; Maternal Grandmother, Cherrill Sullivan of Socorro, NM; and step Grandmother, Wanda McCarty of Carlsbad, NM; Sisters Brittany & (Kendall) Embry of Hobbs, NM, Breana (Michael) Trujillo of Las Cruces, NM and stepsister Kelbi McCarty of Carlsbad, NM; Father and Mother in law Jaime and Oralia Navarrette, Hobbs, NM; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
