Duane Larry Forsman, 73 of Great Falls, passed away January 10, 2015 of natural causes. Duane was considered one of the best players by many local musicians. He composed his music with volt meters, circuit testers, soldering irons, Allen wrenches, c-clamps, belt sanders and even hammers. He was a master of his track.

He entered the music repair business in 1961 in Great Falls and three years later landed a job at McIntosh Music in Kalispell, where he remained for several years. In 1980 Duane returned to Great Falls to be close to his family and opened his own flourishing music repair business in the back of Nicolls Music Center. In 1991 he moved his business to Rods Music and Sound, but remained associated with Harold Nicolls Big Band as sound technician along with installing sound systems at various businesses and several local churches. He was known to have a sparkle of nostalgia in his eyes when it came to the craftsmanship of older electric guitars. Due to unexpected problems, he retired in 2013.

He was a loyal and loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Darlene; sons, Larry (Val), Ken (Kim), and Darrell; brothers, Gary and Dale Forsman; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; as well as his last surviving aunt, Pauline Kimberly.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Wayne.

The world as we not it will never be the same without him and he will be dearly missed by many.
